create a more peaceful and equitable society,

inspiring an evolving culture of personal and social
transformation. Among the attendees was

"Consciousizing" the process of making business
decisions
This month’s Work/Life
Minute features HearthStone Homes CEO, John
Smith. The company is a
leading builder of residential homes. About 10 years
ago Mr. Smith began a new journey of self
exploration. The life-change impacted his business.
He says he wanted to "consciousize" his company by
encouraging employees to do business guided by
core values, based on qualities like
integrity, courage and nurturance among colleagues.

The Lexicon of Spirituality in the
Workplace
Creating a common language
to
discuss spirituality in the workplace. Phillip Hellmich
of Search for Common Ground says that's one of the
methods used for conflict resolution both within his
own organization and in the work his group does
world-wide. It's one of the reasons the
organization was chosen to be honored at the
International Spirit at Work Conference Awards in
Garrison, New York. Phillip is seen here to the left
with ASAW Founder Judy Neal and Futurist
John Renesch.

PRACTICAL CHAOS TIPS |

Guidance from PRACTICAL
CHAOS: A Reporters Notebook on the Exquisite
Nature of Resilience
A Lesson in Detachment
In beginning a new year many of us, myself included,
likely made a list of resolutions, targeted
accomplishments, or things (ie. unhealthy
relationships) that needed to be tossed. While these
lofty ideas seem perfectly harmless, eventually these
items might manifest in our minds as elusive goals.
That's when those aspirations get put on a back
burner. We might feel bad about not reaching the
pinnacle or tipping point that drives us toward
completion. But that's really OK. It's OK not to be
perfect. We are so tough on
ourselves in the short term, instead of staying open
to the wealth of positive potential in the long term.
Being attached to the outcome, or our perception of
what success is, can ultimately take us from the
journey of life. Remember that the good, the bad and
the ugly - all equally offer constructive
lessons.
It's in the
surrender to the process, that success manifests. It
doesn't mean you don't have to work hard. But
instead of beating yourself up,
remind yourself that the day-to-day awareness of
your thoughts, actions and deeds can bring you
closer to those resolutions. The yardstick
for success then becomes the jewels of wisdom from
the daily journey. I urge you to be kind to yourself.
Rome wasn't built in a day!
