    Breaking News
    One Voice Event

OneVoice Coalition makes waves in New York City. The Coalition partnered with the Alliance for a New Humanity for an interactive event designed to bring individuals and organizations together to positively impact the social fabric of New York. The purpose of the Coalition is not to merge organizations, but rather to find the common ground that will allow these groups to use their collective power to raise social awareness locally and globally. In a dialogue, authors Deepak Chopra and Andrew Cohen joined me to discuss how individuals can make the desire for social change part of their core value system.

The International Spirit at Work Awards Conference.
The annual event was held at the Garrison Institute in upstate New York in October. The theme was Engaging the Heart of the Workplace. Awards were given to companies and organizations which are global leaders committed to deeper spiritual values in the running of their workplaces.

Along with the awards, the annual conference is a meeting place for management to share ideas on the spiritual practices, policies and programs that have been implemented within their organizations, which have resulted in tangible results in business. Management leaders took the opportunity to discuss the issues that might bolster business as an agent of social change. You can read more about the awardees at the ISAW website.

Meantime here are some pearls of wisdom from some of the attendees and honorees. I'll post more interviews next month with HearthStone Homes CEO John Smith and Philip Hellmich of Search for Common Ground.

Father Joe Pereira accepted the award on behalf of pharmaceutical company Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. of Mumbai, India.

Kim Proctor, Chief Customer Officer at Spirit on the Job, actively supports the discussion of sprituality within the workplace. Her interactive site is dedicated to exploring practices and protocols of a spiritually atuned workplace.

Rob Katz, CEO of Spiritpower came from South Africa to attend the conference. Katz coaches CEO’s and senior management on igniting spiritual leadership and exploring core key values within upper management. While Katz says he often speaks freely of spirituality, the term is often still difficult to manage in business.

Listen to how Katz works with that conundrum.

    The Work/Life Minute

This month’s Work/Life Minute features television news anchor Trish Bergin. Trish like many working moms, lives moment to moment juggling the duties of motherhood and career. She is best known for her former work on the TV magazine program Inside Edition, but with three little boys, family often has to come first. Hear about her philosophy regarding Work/Life Integration.

    Innovative Integrator

    Manifesting on the blank page.
Sandy Grason, author of Journalution travels the country sharing her intimate life lessons on the benefits of journaling. It's not simply a hobby, she says. In fact, it's a way to get to the core message of your purpose at work and in life. In her interview she speaks of using journaling to reach a more peaceful place to make critical decisions.

    PRACTICAL CHAOS TIPS
    Fall

    Guidance from PRACTICAL CHAOS.
    Cultivating Gratitude and Patience
As we head into the winter months, it’s an ideal time to head inside our own individual “selves” and take stock of where we are as human beings heading to work. Thanksgiving warrants reflections on gratitude. I thought the following quote really fits the bill as we deal with the chaos of the upcoming season.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Author - Melodie Beattie

    The Art of Patience
While this time of the year congers images of preparing for the upcoming holidays, we are also faced with revisiting old relationships, feelings and relatives. This time can be filled with joy, but it is often fraught with deep emotions which do not get checked at the door when we head into the workplace or do business at home.

Some might be facing the season just after losing a spouse or close relative. Others might be concerned with financial issues. And still others - you just don’t know what issues might be coming up for people. So in reality, this time of the year calls for more patience, kindness, compassion and the relinquishing of judgment than any other time. We wear a smile at holiday parties, but you never know what is truly going on behind the scenes.
